Cole Putman

Cole Putman is a professional therapist pursuing licensure in the Nashville Area. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Mississippi, and a Master's of Education in Human Developmental Counseling – Clinical Mental Health from Vanderbilt University. Before graduate school, Cole worked in a nonprofit setting and in higher education as an admissions counselor. Cole also has experience with a local trauma center counseling clients with depression/anxiety, religious trauma, spiritual reintegration, and life transition.

Cole is especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ clients and with clients facing a new life transition. He identifies as a queer affirming, trans-affirming therapist – striving to create a therapeutic environment that is both safe and supportive. Cole’s approach to therapy is acceptance-based and relationally driven. His therapeutic orientation is primarily drawn from Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

“It is one of the greatest honors of my life to walk beside my clients through sorrow, anxiety, joy – all the experiences inherent in being human. I seek to aid clients in recognizing their own strengths as well as assist them in developing new coping skills to greet life’s challenges. As a therapist, I aim to greet every client, every session with nonjudgment, radical acceptance, and a genuine interest in every client's wellbeing.”

Outside of work, Cole is an avid coffee drinker, devoted live music attendee, and passionate poetry reader.

Cole is currently fulfilling the Tennessee licensure requirement of post-masters supervision and is receiving supervision from Dr. Kristi Marshall, an approved supervisor by the state of Tennessee.
