Heather Rector, LMFT
Heather works with adults, couples, and families navigating the places where life can feel complicated—relationship struggles, major transitions, anxiety, changing family dynamics, or simply the sense that something needs to shift. Her path to becoming a therapist was anything but linear. Before entering the counseling field, Heather spent years working with children and families in a behavioral health setting before transitioning to a career in neurofeedback. These experiences shaped the grounded, compassionate perspective and greatly influenced her to become a licensed therapist.
Heather brings warmth, honesty, and curiosity to her work. She works with individuals who are navigating anxiety, self-worth, difficult life transitions, relationship concerns, and the lingering impact of past experiences. She also enjoys working with couples who want to communicate more openly, understand the patterns they get caught in, reconnect, and feel more like a team again. Heather integrates approaches such as EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and create meaningful change.
Heather believes therapy should be a place where you can be honest about what is really going on without feeling judged or “fixed.” She understands that life rarely unfolds exactly as planned and that sometimes we need space to step back, gain perspective, and figure out what comes next.
Outside of the therapy room, Heather enjoys cooking, being in community, and spending time outdoors with her daughter and Labradoodle.
