Starting Here
Maybe nothing is technically wrong, but everything feels like a lot. Work, family, finances, and daily life have piled up, and you're running on tension instead of energy.
Stress management therapy gives you practical tools before ongoing stress turns into something bigger, like anxiety, burnout, or physical health problems.
This Can Look Like
Chronic stress can look like:
- Feeling tense, wound up, or unable to fully relax
- Irritability or a shorter fuse than usual
- Trouble sleeping, concentrating, or being present
- Physical symptoms—headaches, stomach issues, muscle tension
- Feeling like you're always managing one more thing
- A sense that you're coping, but just barely
How Therapy Can Help
Therapy gives you real tools, not generic advice. We'll help you:
- Identify your specific stress triggers and patterns
- Build practical coping skills you can use in the moment
- Set boundaries that actually protect your time and energy
- Understand the line between manageable stress and burnout
- Build a more sustainable pace before stress compounds
Our Approach
This work is practical and collaborative, focused on giving you tools you can actually use given your real schedule and responsibilities—while also looking at any deeper patterns that make it hard to slow down or ask for help.
Therapeutic Approaches We May Use
- Mindfulness-Based Therapy — building in-the-moment tools for regulation
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — aligning your time and energy with what matters
- Solution-Focused Therapy — practical, efficient strategies for immediate relief
- Somatic Experiencing — addressing stress held physically in the body
Who Might Benefit From Treatment
Stress management therapy may be a good fit if you're:
- Feeling stretched thin across work, family, or other responsibilities
- Noticing physical symptoms of stress like tension or poor sleep
- Wanting practical tools rather than long-term exploratory therapy
- Trying to get ahead of stress before it turns into burnout
- A caregiver, parent, or professional juggling a lot at once
What to Expect in Therapy
Your first session maps out where the stress is coming from and what you've already tried, so your therapist can focus on what will actually help.
Sessions tend to be practical and skills-focused, though your therapist can go deeper into underlying patterns if that would be useful.
Sessions are available in person at our Midtown Nashville office or online for clients throughout Tennessee.
FAQ
Is this different from your Burnout Therapy page?
Stress management is generally a good fit if you're feeling overwhelmed but still functioning and want tools to get ahead of it. If you're already feeling chronically depleted, detached, or exhausted, our
page may describe your experience more closely.
Do I need to be in crisis to benefit from this?
No. Many people start stress management therapy proactively, before things feel unmanageable, simply because they want better tools for handling day-to-day pressure.
Do you accept insurance?
Nashville Counseling Associates is out-of-network with insurance providers, so we don't bill insurance directly. Many clients use out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed, and we're happy to provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) for you to submit.
Session fees generally range from $130–$185 depending on the clinician, with $85 sessions available with our graduate-level interns and sliding-scale options based on financial need.
